Every vehicle in the GTA must meet these minimum requirements:

• 4 Door vehicle
• Good condition with no damage
• No Commercial signs
• No Branded or Salvage titles
• Must use Snow Tires from Dec 1 to April 30 each year
• Pass a certification by a licensed mechanic

Vehicle Years  Allowed:

In the City of Toronto, Mississauga, Oakville and Brampton, you must be driving a 2012 or newer vehicle. In 2020 it must be a 2013 and so on. It must stay at least 7 model years old to drive for UberX, UberPool, UberX and Select.

Note: If you vehicle is 8-10 years old you can still drop off riders in these cities. But you will not have any pickups available within the boudaries of these cities.

Uber Eats: You can drive for UberEats if your vehicle is up to 20 years old.

Registration:

Temporary and Ontario standard (green) ownerships are accepted by Uber. The vehicle may be registered in someone elses name.

Uber has now become a household name. Phrases like “Let’s Uber to the Store, and then catch an Uber to the Movie” has become as ever day as the Band aid brand. It means to “request a ride from Uber,” You already know that Uber is an on-demand ride sharing service, but you might not know that “Uber” a few different varieties of rides.

The four levels of Uber service are: UberX, UberPOOL, UberXL, UberSELECT, UberEATS, UberWAV, UberASSIST and UberBlack. Each level is a different type of service.

UberX: The least expensive Uber service available in Toronto. Seats 4 riders. Drivers use everyday cars that are (2011 or newer for Toronto, Mississauga and Oakville).

UberPOOL: Share your ride with other passengers traveling in the same direction.

UberXL: Seats 6 or more passengers and has higher rates than UberX.

UberSelect: A luxury sedan that seats up to 4 riders. Expect a BMW, Mercedes Benz, Audi, Infiniti, Lexus etc. with leather interior.

UberEATS:

UberWAV: Wheelchair accessible vehicle) Only vehicles with ramp or lift and are wheelchair accessible.

UberASSIST: For riders that require special assistance. (Requires certification)

 UberBLACK: Uber’s ‘executive’ luxury service. Commercially registered and insured vehicles, typically a black SUV or luxury sedan. Highest fares.

Uber Select (known as Uber Plus in some markets) is similar to UberX — the vehicles seat up to 4 passengers. The vehicle standards are higher for Uber Select, so expect a ride in a luxury car like a BMW, Mercedes Benz, or an Audi. Uber Select is a good option when you want a nicer car, but you don’t want to pay for Black Car service. Black car is the professional car service that has given Uber a high-end reputation among the business professionals. Black Car standards are truly high level: Your Black Car driver will have a commercial license, commercial insurance, and their vehicle will be a high-end luxury sedan or SUV. There are two options in the Black Car service: Choose a Black Car luxury sedan that seats 4, or an SUV that seats 6 or more.

Naturally, the fare for Black Car is the most expensive available. It caters to wealthier riders such as business people, celebrities and those who are willing to spend a little extra for a special event.
